Was genau unter Yoga verstanden wird, hat sehr viel mit dem Yogaweg derjenigen Person zu tun, die gerade am Erklären ist.
Was ich persönlich immer schon sehr schön an Yoga fand und mich auch an säkular-buddhistischen Lebensweisen fasziniert und überzeugt ist, dass beide Wege keine abgehobene Esoterik darstellen, an die ich nur glauben kann, sondern Wege, die man beschreiten kann im Sinne von: hör zu, schau an, probier es aus und entscheide selbst.
Yoga unterstützt dich darin, in deinem Handeln mit deiner Aufmerksamkeit zurückzukehren ins Hier und Jetzt, von Moment zu Moment bewusst zu leben.
„ATHA“ – das Sanskritwort für „Jetzt“ ist das allererste Wort im Yogasutra und auch in vielen aktuellen (spirituellen) Lebensschulen der Inbegriff für ein gefühlt erfülltes Dasein.
Irgendwie auch nachvollziehbar: wenn ich jetzt da bin, dann können Grübelhexe und Zweifelteufel einpacken!
Da-SEIN bedeutet gedanklich und gefühlsmäßig in einer dynamischen, gelassenen Balance zu schwingen – ich bin nicht „zerfleddert“ sondern gesammelt, sozusagen „bei mir“. Es handelt sich nicht um leere Abgebrühtheit, sondern um einen wachen, offenen, lebendigen Zustand. Alles wird bunter und annehmbarer, auch Unangenehmes….
Yoga bietet zahlreiche Methoden an, wie wir zu dieser Ausgeglichenheit finden können. Ich empfand es als sehr gewinnbringend, darüber bescheid zu wissen, warum mein Kopf und meine Gefühle so tun wie sie tun. Die Beschäftigung mit yogischen Lebensweisheiten hat mir viele wahrlich entlastende Aha-Erlebnisse beschert und dadurch Räume eröffnet und Wege gezeigt, wie ich auch im Alltag dem Affen im Hirn die Banane reiche und den Raum zwischen Reiz und Reaktion erweitere.
Genau darin steckt echte Freiheit!
Das ist wahrlich kein leichtes Unterfangen sondern eher ein Lebensprojekt und gelingt mal mehr, mal wieder weniger gut. „Fortschritte“ erkennt man meist erst in einer Rückschau.
Es ist mir wichtig, in meinen Unterricht an mancher Stelle sinnvolle Impulse über die Eigenarten unseres natürlichen Geistes und den Weg der Achtsamkeit einfließen zu lassen. Ich möchte damit niemanden „bekehren“, sondern Verständnis schaffen und vor allem Nachsicht (Mitgefühl für) mit sich selbst.
Die körperliche Praxis auf der Matte ist schließlich Yoga in komprimierter Form. Wie gestalte und empfinde ich mein Üben? Was sind meine Motive, was meine Ziele? Wie geht’s mir heute überhaupt? Was ist heute mein rechtes Maß?
Kann ich das alles auch mit der richtigen Portion Humor betrachten?
Und vielleicht auch ein paar Minuten mit dem Fragen und Kritisieren aufhören, lauschen und zulassen?
Genau darin liegt meines Erachtens einer der wertvollsten Beiträge des Yoga – sich selbst spüren lernen, offen und neugierig und vor allem liebevoll mit sich selbst sein.
Sich selbst mal gut sein lassen – das kann super entlasten, erleichtern und entspannen – in Körper und Geist.
Denn Yoga ist vor allem eins: Herzensbildung – und davon kann nicht nur man selbst, sondern die ganze Welt profitieren.
